sermon notes & questions:

The Good Shepherd | Thomas Scherer
Main Text: John 10:1-16

Synopsis: Thomas Scherer (missionary) preached this Sunday from John 10:1-16. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” Jesus will always be the shepherd. God’s people will always be his sheep. It is a glorious thing for God’s people to be called the sheep of God and to live under his good care. Jesus said that His sheep hear his voice, and follow after him. Yet today, there are other voices that are saying things contrary to the voice of the shepherd. We have a great shepherd who is committed to protecting the sheep. He will not allow us to stray and be lost forever.

Questions:

  1. How were you convicted and/or encouraged by the teaching this week?

  2. How do we hear the voice of Jesus?

  3. What are the competing voices that speak into your life?

  4. What does it mean to trust in God’s commitment to us as opposed to trusting in our commitment to God?
